Acri Picks: When Gord Acri from Vernon, British Columbia, couldn't find a brand of fingerpick which suited him, he set out a few years ago to make his own. The result is a heavy duty brass pick, with a dished blade and very wide wraps which almost cover the end of the finger like a thimble. Since there's a bigger difference in shape between these picks and most others available, it might take longer to get used to them if you've started out with the national style pick, but players that have made the transition say that Acri picks stay on their fingers more reliably without being so tight as to cut off the blood circulation in the fingertips, and their weight can be an asset in getting good tone from the banjo, dobro, and autoharp. |
